Born
in December 1986, Mr. Tamura took piano lessons from Naohito Fukaya
at age six, and later, at age 12, he started taking lessons from
Claudio Soares. After graduating the Meiwa High School music department
in the Aichi prefecture, he now studies at the University Mozarteum
Salzburg under John Christoph Lieske.
Mr. Tamura started the piano when he was three years old. In the
PTNA piano competition, he gained prizes in almost all the divisions,
starting from the silver prize in level B (1994), gold prize in
level C (1995), Best 15 prize in level D (1996), gold prize in level
E (1997), prize of excellence in the medium level of the duo division
(1998), and gold prize in level G (2000).
He won second prize in the Vienna Music Competition in Japan, elementary
school division in 1998. In the same year, he earned third prize
in the Nagoya district of the All Japan Student Music Competition
elementary school division. In 2001, he won the first prize in the
junior high school division of the All Japan Student Music Competition,
Nagoya district.
His successful performances include the Mozarteum concert in Salzburg
(1994), performing the Mozart K414 with the Chamber Orchestra in
Warsaw, Poland (1997), participating in the Karlsruhe International
Piano Academy in Germany (1999), the Eastman College Summer Seminar
in Hamamatsu (2000) and the Hamamatsu International Piano Academy
(2000, 2001, 2003), as well as the Opening Gala Concert performed
by the participants of the Academy.
In 2002 he participated in the Miyazaki International Music Festival
and took master classes from Vladimir Ashkenazy. His domestic activities
are concerts all over the country, such as Tokyo, Kyoto, Suwa, Takaoka,
Nagoya, Toyama, and Miyazaki, and more.
In 2002 he was the second prize winner in the B section of the Etlingen
International Piano Competition, also receiving the Haydn prize.
In August of the same year, he was the grand prix winner of the
26th annual PTNA Piano Competition, also receiving the Minister
of Education and Science prize, Japan Philharmonic prize, Oji prize,
Mikimoto prize, Mitsui home prize, and the Yomiuri Shimbun prize.
In November he was the winner of the 18th annual Takahiro Sonoda
Piano Competition, receiving the Takahiro Sonoda Prize and the romantic
period repertoire prize, contemporary music prize, high school special
mention prize, and the fujitsu prize.

In the year 2003, Mr. Tamura played the Mozart K488 with the Osaka
Symphonic Orchestra with Daisuke Soga on tact, and the Chopin Concerto
No.2 with the Japan philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Tetsuji
Honna, and the Chopin with Osaka Symphonic Orchestra with conductor
Toshihiko Matsunuma. His numerous recitals include Oji Hall (Tokyo),
Osaka, Kyoto and Aichi, the Setagaya Fresh Concert, and he successfully
participated in the Suntory Hall 17th annual ceremony Gala Concert.
In October he had four recitals in Brazil, and also participated
in the Liszt Festival in Utrecht, Holland, and the Animato Festival
in Cortot Hall, Paris (2004).
The following year Mr. Tamura participated in the
Animato Festival at Cortot Hall in Paris(January), "Pianist
Series recommended by Takahiro Sonoda, No.7" at Toppan Hall
(April),"Fresh Artists from Yokosuka Recital Series" at
Yokosuka Art Hall Yokosuka Bayside Pocket (July), "Arion Prize
Ceremony Recital: New Star No.2, Hibiki Tamura Solo Recital"
at the "Tokyo no Natsu" Music Festival, "Muza Kawasaki
Symphony Hall Masterpieces Volume 1" with the Tokyo Symphony
Orchestra with Hubert Soudant on tact (October).
In the year 2005 was
another aggrevating year, starting with the Special Concert "Kobaken
Special Vol.3 Tchaikovsky Series" with Nagoya Philharmonic
Orchestra with Kenichiro Kobayashi on tact (February), five important
domestic concerts in March, performance with the Uni Philharmonic
Orchestra with Seiichi Mitsuishi on tact, and Kansai Philharmonic
Orchestra with Junichi Hirokami on tact(June), piano recital of
the Japan Chopin Association 224th Conference in July, and two concerts
with Hiroyuki Iwaki and the Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa in November.
In the same month, he made a successful performance with Michiyoshi
Inoue conducting the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra and the Osaka
Philharmonic Orchestra. Mr. Tamura also released his first debut
album "Hibiki Tamura Debut Album". He received the Idemitsu
Music Prize in 2006. He has also garnered scholarships from the
Daiko Foundation and Ezoe Foundation. He continues to perform in
venues nationally and internationally.
Tamura won the Long-Thibaud International Piano Competition in October,
2007.
