Yurino Izumi

Profile

Ms. Izumi gained numerous prizes in the PTNA piano competition, starting from the gold prize in the A-1 grade (1990), gold prize in level B (1991), gold prize in level C (1992), gold prize in level D (1993), gold prize in level G (1996), and the bronze prize in the special grade. She also earned the Encouragement prize in the duo elementary division (1991), excellent prize in the duo senior division (1994), the first prize in the duo special division (1998), and the silver prize of the special grade in 2002, also winning the audience prize, Mitsui Home prize, and the Oji prize at the same time.

Ms. Izumi is the winner of the 1994 All Japan Student Music Competition Tokyo area Elementary division, and second prize winner of the junior high division of the same competition in 1995. She also earned the encouragement prize in the Etlingen International Piano Competition B division held in Germany (1996). Ms. Izumi won third place in the Jr. Gina Bachauer International Competition in 1999. Two years later, she participated in the "Teenage Artist Series Volume 12" sponsored by the Piano Teachers National Association. She performed recitals in Sapporo and Okinawa. The same year, Ms. Izumi participated in the "Auvers-Sur-Oise International Music Festival" held in France. She also played in the Yasuko Fukuda Memorial Concert. Starting from the concert tour in Slovakia, she made her way to United States, Austria, Hungary, Italy, France and Portugal, and performed in several recitals and concerts. So far, Izumi has played with the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Poland Krakow Chamber Orchestra, Zilina Chamber Orchestra, and the Porto Symphony.

In October 2002, Ms. Izumi won first prize in the Porto International Competition, the youngest artist prize, and the best contemporary player prize. She made her debut in Italy in the January of the following year, and in December, she was on a recital tour to Portugal. In March 2004, she participated in the "Spotlight Concert 2004", and was the guest performer for the third annual Fuji Yoshida Music Festival in August.
Recently, Ms. Izumi enrolls in the Yamaha Master Class. Her teachers are Fumiko Eguchi, Shinji Urakabe, Mitsuyo Ezaki, Megumi Itoh, and Dominique Geoffroi. Ms. Izumi currently lives in Paris.
